The CAO cigar comes from Italy which is also known for its olive oils, as well as its fine wines. Up until now, Italy was not thought of in regard to fine cigar tobaccos; however the Italia Habano seed has changed this! Grown exclusively for the CAO, this seed was brought to Italy some 40 years ago. It is now grown in the Benevento southern region of Italy, between Naples and Rome. The Cao L’ Anniversaire Maduro cigar was introduced in 1998 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of CAO. Since that time, this smoke has become one of the most popular cigars on the market. The wrapper that is used is rare, thus being a Vintage 1999 harvest Connecticut Broadleaf. It is made by a fermentation process that is put under great heat and supervision for 90 days, after which it releases a rich dark wrapper with a very thin carbon ring. This exceptional wrapper encases an Ecuadorian binder with Nicaraguan/Dominican fillers. Each box pressed cigar   generates flavors of coffee, black pepper, and cedar all at the same time.
