The Godfather reviews the Los Blancos Maduro Torpedo. A cigar with breeding with a price tag that reflects it!

Los Blancos Maduro Torpedo 6.5 x 52 Wrapper: Habano 2000 Nicaraguan Maduro Binger: Honduran Filler: Nicaraguan Price: $6.00
The Los Blancos cigar company was founded in 1998 during the tail end of the cigar boom. With roots dating back to Cuba, the founders are distinct cousins to the famed Plasencia family. The Los Blancos Cigar Company make their cigars in the same factories as the Plasencia in Esteli, Nicaragua. With such family breeding, one would expect a lot from this cigar company. Googling their reviews for their cigars I found that, in general, they receive pretty high marks.
You can go online and read more about the company’s history and see what other lines that they have at www.losblancos.com. As cigar sites go, I found this one extremely helpful in understanding more about their products and understanding the company. They recently did a huge revision to their site, so if you have ran across it before in your cigar browsing, you might want to stop back in and take a look at the changes they have made.
The cigar today that I am review is their Maduro which measures 6.5 x 52. As a habit, which I am sure I have already mentioned but it bears repeating, I prefer to smoke a torpedo cigar whenever I get the chance. The reason is quite simple: they are the best…I guess I should elaborate. The wrapper that is used on the torpedo has to be the best of the crop. For the wrapper to fit properly it has to be elastic enough, yet be strong enough to endure the wrapping process. The torpedo also offers you the best in flavor due to its increased ring gauge so you are able to taste the full flavor as opposed to a smaller gauge where you can’t enjoy the fullness of the cigar as well.
The cigar looks great. It has a nice oily finish to it. It has a double band on it; one at the head and one at the foot which makes it look quite nice. I did notice that the cigar was a bit lumpy which did detract from the overall appearance, but since I am in a good mood today, I will let that pass. As I lit the cigar, it produced a good amount of smoke. I like that. I always write about the smoke for some reason, but, what is a good cigar without a lot of thick billowing smoke?
The cigar had a great taste to it. It was a medium smoke with touches of cedar aroma filling the air. I did have a problem with the burn. It tended to run on me and I had to set it down and light the edges a few times to get it to burn right. About halfway through, it started to burn more consistently and gave me a lot less trouble. I noticed as I smoked the cigar, the juices just flowed onto my hand and lips. I love a good Maduro and this was a sign of a superb one.
The draw on this cigar was great. At first, it took a while to get all the tobacco lit and ready to smoke, but shortly after lighting, it took off. A nice even draw in which I never felt I was taking some breathalyzer test….not that I know what that is like……..
Overall, I loved the cigar. The only problem was the price. At $6.00 a smoke I thought it was a bit overpriced. I have smoked just as good cigars for the $4.00 range. Now, that might be the scrooge in me coming out, but I believe that everyone should be able to afford a nice smoke. That is why buydominicancigars.com is going to start selling cigars online again. You will be able to buy this smoke online. We are going to strive to bring you the best smokes we can for the best prices possible.
