A. Fuente lives up to its label yet again.

I did a Google search on Dominican cigar reviews and got to read some very interesting reviews from this chap over the pond.  He was a good brit.  I know he was a good brit because every cigar he reviewed he also added what form of liquor he had with it.  To top it all, he got to review a ton of Cubans.   Of course, he had to pay a ton for them as well.

He got me thinking about cigars and dang it, I just have to go out and smoke me another one.  And, in celebration of Argentina’s victory today in the world cup over Mexico, I decided to put aside my usual drink of choice when I am reviewing, water, and drink a Malbec Wine from Argentina.  The wine is superb, but you’re not reading for the wine review. Let’s get to the cigar de jure.

Today I am smoking the A.Fuente Gran Reserva Maduro Petite Corona 5 x 38.  That is a mouthful to type and say.  I have reviewed a Fuente before so you know that I like them.  The last Fuente review was a natural Connecticut wrapper. Today, the cigar comes with an Ecuadorian sun grown wrapper.  With a natural hue of dark rich clay, this cigar brings to life the soil of the Dominican Republic

The binder and filler for the Gran Reserva line are from the Dominican Republic and are promised to be only of the “finest Quality.”  If you would like to know more about the Fuente family line of cigars go to their website at www.cigarfamily.com.

This cigar took to the light quite easily.  It has a nice soft taste to it.  It doesn’t overpower the Malbec that I am drinking.  It has distinct notes of cedar that you can smell and taste due to its extensive aging at the factory.  The cigar will delight the senses and the smell is quite mild so it is a safe choice when you are smoking in areas where the delicate noses of lesser mortals may be lurking.  Well, you might be like me and not have any place to smoke your cigars publicly.  Where I live the governor just made it illegal to smoke indoors in any public environment; thankfully, I still have a private club I can go to and smoke away without being disturbed by all the health nuts who will die before they are 50 due to them stressing out so much about us smokers.

Anywho, the cigar has a wonderful taste…I already said that…it has just the right amount of smoke and is quite easy to draw.  I would have to give this cigar my hearty recommendation.  I can’t provide a price per stick on this one because it was a gift, but I would think it would be around the $5 a stick range.  Buy one for you and a buddy and take an afternoon off with a bit of Malbec and enjoy this beauty.  Tell your boss is it a matter of life or death….

If you have cigar that you would like for me to review send me an e-mail at .
